MCI Welcomes South East Asia

At Maine Central Institute we particularly welcome overseas students from South East Asia who wish to take Advanced-Level English Language programs. Some of our international students come to the U.S to take these classes in order to prepare themselves to enter university; others come to learn English while experiencing the American way of life.

MCI's 24-acre campus in Pittsfield reflects a family approach to each student's educational experience and sets them apart from other schools: their exceptional faculty, staff, and administration know their overseas students individually and personally.

MCI's Extra Student Activities

In addition to studying, many of MCI's overseas students also participate in academic clubs and professional organizations which are amply catered for on their sumptuous and expansive campus. Their wide range of activities to students include the following:

  • Art club and museum visits which are always popular with our overseas students.
  • Chess Club is open to all students, whether they wish to play competitively, want to learn, just have fun or those Maine Central Institute students who may want to even compete in local U.S. Chess Federation rated tournaments!
  • Drama Club welcomes all skill levels and abilities. We heavily promote participation in theatre activities both on campus as well as popular venues outside the regular Theatre Arts classes.
  • The Fencing Club has been designed to teach competitive sport fencing to both males and females and is a great way to spend a couple of hours once a week.
  • Homecoming in September is a tradition to welcome back alumni and former residents to share in the athletic achievements of our current student-athletes. It is a fun way for new students to build friendships with the entire student body and a perfect opportunity for alums to reconnect. The MCI Homecoming Week features many events in the community, including a parade, bonfire, friendly class competitions, and sports games featuring MCI's Football, Field Hockey, Soccer and Golf teams.
  • MCI's Key Club and Key Club International comprises of students from all grades who are interested in serving their communities and the high school organization which is currently sponsored by Kiwanis International. Key Club assists Kiwanis in carrying out its mission to serve the children of the world by assisting local communities, such as cleaning up parks, collecting clothing and organizing food drives.
  • The Kindness Krew's goal is to promote and engage in acts of kindness at the school with the assistance of the aforementioned Key Club around Thanksgiving and is warmly welcomed in the local community.
  • MCI's International Food Festival in April is a firm favorite with our overseas students as they plan and prepare food offerings and showcase music from their home countries in our open-house event.
  • MCI’s art magazine and coffee-house "Masardis" and features original student art and literature of varying mediums showcasing student and faculty talents.

Other Clubs and Activities

Other areas of interest that are enthusiastically supported and encouraged by Maine Central Institute encompass a Math club, a Model United Nations club, a National Honor Society that comprises high school sophomores, juniors, and seniors, an Outdoor Adventure Club, a Philanthropy Council, a Ping Pong Club, The Quidditch Club, and their Robotics Team dedicated to the Inspiration and Recognition of Science and Technology.
